The Rang De Mumbai Chapter is a vibrant group of social investors, volunteers and friends of Rang De. We believe in microcredit and its power to alleviate poverty. We hope to work towards making India a betterplace to live in by participating in change and engaging more and more individuals like ourselves.

How do I get involved in the chapter and its activities ?

• This wiki is the right place to start for a new chapter member. Read about our activities, go through the events archive at the end of this page.
• The google group is our most active communication medium. Join the group and introduce yourself to us.
• The chapter has been meeting once a month and has a conference call fortnightly or so to discuss our plans. The google group should keep you updated on these meetings.
• Our activities fall into three major areas Campaigns & fundraising - physical and online , Field visits + Social audits & technology support to Rang De. You are welcome to contribute in anyway you can. Fore more details on the activities Read this

Event Archive

• Rang De Mumbai Chapter participates in The Mumbai Marathon with an almost unbelievable support from Axis Bank. Sixty five employees from the Bank ran in support of Rang De.

• Field Trip To Pusad for an evaluation and interaction with borrowers.

• Volunteers talk to a group of social club and senior citizens club at Raheja Colony, Borivali on 5th sept 10 . We were invited to talk by one of the residents who is a social investor. The group as a whole now plans to

          collect funds and invest on rangde.org.

• The Rang De team presents at B&K securities annual conference on 1st Sept. Talked about the RangDe model to a quite a few top honchos from the corporate world and will be working on furthering the relationship.

• Chapter meet on 29th August 2010. We had a huge turnout for the meet with lots of new members and also some of the participants of Mumbai Marathon. Details here

• The Mumbai Chapter is out to organise its first big event, a concert or play to raise awareness among potential social investors. More planning during the upcoming chapter meet.

• The Mumbai Chapter was out for a field visit to Nagpur on the 10-11th of April. The group visited CBMD, one of the first field partners at RangDe. Spent a day visiting the borrowers and understanding their business.

• Waheeda Rehman joined the Rang De team for a field visit to Nagpur to learn more about Rang De and its work.  Read more

• The Mumbai Chapter had its first official meeting at Bandra on Sunday 10th Jan. A productive brainstorming session to kick off the chapter activities.
